Trying To Keep It All In Perspective

Had a brutal short session of $1/2 limit 6max yesterday. In the span of 6 hands, I lost $35. The first big hit came when I tried to steal from the button with K9o and hit my king on the flop. Unfortunately, the BB hit two pair and let me keep firing into the pot while he smooth called. A couple hands later, Anna takes another bite out of my bankroll. Then the very next hand I wake up to KK and promptly lose another huge pile of chips to a runner-runner flush.

In the first hand (stealing from the button), I probably could have gotten off the hand if I had been paying better attention. But in the other two hands, I’m not sure I really did anything wrong. Just bad beats, is all. That’s the sometimes truly frustrating aspect of this silly game; you can do everything right…and still lose.

Oh, and then to add insult to injury, I lost a $6 turbo this morning (where was the warm-up game?), then played some $.5/1 limit 6max this morning and had another brutal session. Had kings again cracked by a rivered flush, had Anna let me down again, etc. Brutal and demoralizing, though I guess I was due for big loss after the fantastic past few days I’ve had. I’m still up significantly for the week, so I can’t really complain. That’s poker (the world’s most exasperating game).
