Been playing a lot of $.25/.50 limit lately. To state the obvious (after looking at the chart above)it's been a tad entertaining. Unfortunately, it's been the kind of entertaining that is hard on the old ticker.
The swings in YIPES have been amazing recently, with the biggest drop totalling nearly $35 over the course of two days. The only bright spot I can point to during the freefall was that most of the losses weren't really my fault. Sure, I dropped a few pots due to tilt and loosey-goosey play, but for the most part I played tight-aggressive poker while suffering beat after beat. Also, I couldn't hit a set with my pairs to save my life, and any straight or flush draw I was on failed to fill up. Added to the misery was an incredible run of bad luck at the SnG tables. I went 12 for 12 without making it into the money. That kind of run is almost statistically impossible, but, again, going back through my PT stats I can't really point to anything super serious that I did wrong. Of course I donked off chips a few times that I didn't have to, and two or three times I became almost ridiculously suicidal and pushed all in when I didn't have to. On the other hand, most games I lost the old fashioned way: bad luck and bad beats. But still, twelve for twelve? Come on!
Okay, enough of that whining. The upside is the, well, upside in the chart. Over the course of the last few days I'm managed to right the sinking ship and refill the coffers a bit. I'm still down from the high I hit before the snowball got started, but I'm pretty proud of how far back I've climbed. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: poker is not for the faint of heart.
Only other news to report is the Guru said he would freeroll me in a couple of MPT online tournaments (buy-in=$33) as payment for teaching his class while he was gone. Pretty cool. Now if I can just get him to pay me the $100 he owes me for beating him in our weight loss proposition bet. Or the $80 he owes me for winning the MPT the other night under his account...
All-in for now....
