Played three simultaneous $1.25 SnGs at lunch today and took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. It was a fun, adrenaline-filled experience (much like a matrix), but to be honest it's just a little too much all at once. This is especially true given that I started all three games within a few minutes of each other and, therefore, got to the bubble roughly at the same time in each game. If I had been playing only two games, I think I could have focused a little better and taken advantage of a few good situations to increase my chip stack with steals against weakness. Instead, when I got heads up in one game I basically pushed all-in with the first face card I had just so I could concentrate on the other two games. In hindsight, this is pretty stupid, as I gave up the opportunity to increase my profit in that game by a couple of bucks. Sigh. Made a grand total of $.75 for the experience. Maybe tomorrow I'll try two games of $2 SnG....
Also played some $10NL cash this afternoon. I took 45 minutes off from work and played 235 hands of TAG poker. Stole a lot of blinds just to keep my stack topped off and also made some big plays with big cards. Doubled up quickly in one game with JJ, but then lost most of my stack in another when I played KK against JJ and lost to the set. I don't feel too badly about that one; i.e., that's just poker and I don't think I would/could have done anything differently.
The hand I do feel badly about, however, was when I had AQ and got distracted with a ph0ne call. A TAG player limp-reraised me from early position, which as I've stated in an earlier post, is almost a dead certainty that they have a monster made hand. I made the mistake of calling the bet and then raising his check to me on a board of K-J-x. He check-raised all-in and I, stupidly, called. Arghgh. His KKK beat my ace-high pretty handily, needless to say. The only good news was he was a short-stack, so it "only" cost me $5. As my buddy Bret likes to say: if you drop just one plate juggling, it's pretty much all over.
Despite that one bad play, I feel pretty good about my game today again. Made roughly $6 for the day, which at the micro-stake level I play at, really ain't too bad. Gotta run...
All-in for now...
