Grrr'ings of a Bug

Played a little under my old bug account today with some mixed results. I've got a handful of $26 tokens in the account, and today I tried my luck at a 90-man turbo/deepstack/knockout MTT. I was in the right frame of mind, did some mental warm-ups, and basically played very tight, position poker. I managed to double up early, but then I was moved to a new table and I went absolutely card dead. Worse, I had three of the world's most aggressive maniacs immediately to my right. Almost without exception, every time it was folded to one of them, they shoved all-in. My hands were of the ilk 7-4, 9-3, J-2, and so on. In other words, I never got a chance to steal, plus I couldn't call any of the maniacs' raises. It was sick, especially watching how much these yahoos accumulated chips, gave them back, and then accumulated them again. Of course I slowly got blinded down to an M of 7 or so, and then, finally, when I did pick up a hand (wired tens) UTG, I shoved and got called by all three nimrods. Two of them (surprisingly) turned over semi-real hands (22 and 88), and of course the deuces turned into a set and I was sent packing in 23rd place. Grrr.

I also played some micro-stakes limit and NL poker simultaneously with the MTT, and did okay, adding 50% to my tiny little leftover bankroll in the account (which almost makes me want to start another YIPES-like experiment. almost.) Anyway, I'm now up to a whopping $3.15. That amount should have been more like $4, but I got married to a pair of jacks on the very last hand of my session and was decimated by an obvious-in-hindsight overpair of queens. Grrrr.

Under the new bug account, I'm still in break-even mode; up $20 or so, and then down the same amount, day after day. Early this morning, I got up and played 150 hands for a net gain of 20-cents, with plus and minus swings of over $10. I'm clearly doing *almost* everything right, but there is evidently some leak in my game that I've developed that keeps me from sloping upward with the bankroll. Dunno. I need to get the Guru and/or Mr. Multi to look over my PT stats and see if they can find anything obvious. One thing is for sure, tho: this is getting frustrating. Two and a half months with essentially zero added to the 'roll. Grrrrr.

In other poker news, I read on someone else's poker blog that Germany's government is working to make online poker illegal in das Vaterland. The krauts are evidently modeling a proposed law on the incredibly stupid American UIGEA legistlation that the anti-civil rights Senator Bill Frist tacked onto the port security bill, so many sad months ago. What is it with these damned politicians who think they have the moral authority and call to keep me from enjoying the harmless pastime of online poker? Their arguments almost always devolve into one of protecting innocent people from the dangers of compulsive gambling. Never mind that these same pols (e.g., Senator Jon Kyl of my own great state) have the Indian tribes in their back pocket and fully support Native American casinos. Evidently compulsive gambling is fine and dandy, as long as the tribes are making money and passing a cut along to the good 'ole boy Senator. Grrrrrrrrrr.

All-in for now...
