I was listening to yet another Bart Hanson Podcast on yesterday's long flight to Washington DC for an out-and-back biz trip. The subject of this particular interview was a high stakes cash game player who routinely plays online at the $10/$20 and $25/$50 levels ($2000 and $5000 buy-ins). In the discussion, the player recounted how he started out a few years earlier in $0.05/$0.10 games ($10 buy-ins) and struggled for years. Then one day he had an epiphany and began rapidly progressing up the stakes ladder. His stroke of genius? Simple, it's a two-part secret to winning at poker:
- Bet your good hands for value; and
- Fold everything else to re-raises.
Yep, poker is this easy. The expert said that once he figured these two things out, making money online was a breeze. Seriously. No, seriously.
All-in for now...
