Poker Quiz Question #29

Q#29: $5000 is an acceptable total bankroll for $5/$10 professional no-limit cash games played live in a casino.
  1. True
  2. False

---

A#29: In no-limit cash I've read that it's not uncommon to drop 10 buy-ins in a single session without doing anything incorrectly.* So what does this mean?

Answer: you need a pretty healthy bankroll to play poker. How healthy?

Answer: like most things poker-related, it depends. On what?

Answer: on your skill level at the stakes you want to play, and how risk averse you are. Some experts recommend a minimum of 20 buy-ins for a "normal" cash game at your usual stakes. Others recommend much more. Tommy Angelo, for instance, said (in a podcast I just listened to) that 100 buy-ins is what he would recommend. Yikes. At the $5/10 game specified in Q#29, that would mean a bankroll of $100K is required. Seriously. This seems more than a bit excessive. Generally speaking, 25-40 buy-ins is appropriate IMHO.

All-in for now...
