Lady Luck

Only played one SnG yesterday. It was a $6 turbo at lunch, and I won it fairly easily. The reason? I got good cards, plain and simple. In addition, the few hands that I had that were coin flips went my way. For example, my JTs held up against A4o, which is roughly a 50/50 proposition. I ended up on the correct side of a few of these type of hands and it paid off. Of course it could just have easily gone the other way. In other words, it’s always better to be lucky than good…

Only other poker news of note is I watched the end game of the Tucson Open online tourney last night. When I tuned in, they were down from 21 original players to 6 final table players. The tourney only pays the top three, so it’s a pretty tough format to win. That said, the guru was in good shape when I tuned in, but then slowly got whittled down until he was one of the shorter stacks. He made it to the bubble, but then busted out in fourth place when a local pro knocked him out. The guru had middle pair on the flop and pushed all-in. The pro called with an open ended straight draw and one over card. He went runner-runner for two pair and knocked Mark out. This morning, he called me and said he was still steamed about it. Luck can be a bitch.
