Well, I finally created a new fulltilt account and transferred the bulk of my bankroll over. It was surprisingly "emotional" to give up bugeyebug and move on to a new name. I've played a lot of hours under the old account, so it's going to take a while to get used to logging in with a new name and not miss the old one.
The reason for the switch was due primarily to pressure being applied by the Guru, who has wanted me to play under his affiliate account for the past year. He gets rakeback from fulltilt for every raked hand that I play under the new account, so he's going to make $50 or so a month off my play.
So, what's in it for me, you might ask? Well, the deal we've worked out is that on Sunday mornings, I can freeroll on the Guru's account and anything won gets split evenly between us. I've been spending 2-3 hours every other Sunday at his house, playing various SnGs and cash games, but I've been more or less (I say "more or less" because his record keeping is awful) been on the hook for 30% of any losses we've incurred. From now on, I'll be playing with zero risk, so it should work out in my favor... assuming I start posting a profit on the Sunday mornings. (We also have a handshake deal that says if we stop the Sunday morning thing, I will begin collecting half of my rakeback directly in cash transferred to my account. Not a bad deal...)
Sounds good, right? Well, today I played for the first time under the new screen name.... and promptly lost twenty bucks. Not a great start to the new me. In truth, I can't really say I played poorly. I just ran a little bad at $1/2 limit 6max, dropping about $40 in fifteen minuts. I then jumped into a couple of $10NL games and won back a couple of the lost sawbucks, leaving me down $20 for the entire lunch hour session. Sigh. Not a particularly great start to the new bug era, but what are you gonna do?
All-in for now....
-Bug
