Spent Sunday morning at the Guru's house, playing on his dime. Actually, to be honest, I/we only really played with frequently player points (FPP), but at an estimated worth of 4.8 cents per point, it's still a pretty good deal for me.
When I got to his house, he was gone, dropping his kids off at a friend's house. He'd called to tell me to go ahead and get started, so I jumped into an 1800 FPP 9-handed game. By the time the Guru showed up, I was on the bubble. We had a couple of tricky spots to navigate, but we made it into the money, earning us a $26 token.
We then used that token to buy into another SnG, which paid the top two places with $75 tokens and third place got $60. With us taking turns at the stick, we went on to take first place. We also played a couple of other games (650FPP 18-player game; and a 50FPP 54-player game), but we didn't money in either of those. In the 50FPP game, we easily made it to the final table, but ended up busting out on a bad beat. In the 650FPP game, we had QQ run into AA, which crippled us early and we never really recovered.
Next weekend, we'll probably try to earn a couple more $26 tokens, plus we'll take a shot with the $75 token we won today in a bigger tourney. It's actually pretty easy to money in the 1800FPP games (I've done it (once) on my old bug account without really breaking a sweat; and the Guru has a 75% ITM rate with them, too), so hopefully this is a good strategy to win our way into larger, bigger-$ games once a month.
In other news, I'm not doing very well so far with the new bug account. I've dropped ~$60 so far in cash games, and I'm not sure what (if anything) I"m doing wrong. It would really help if I could run PT3 at home, but my temporary computer isn't up to the task of running a SQL-based database. (Hell, it barely runs FullTilt.) In any case, I intend to keep plugging away at cash games and see if I can right this upside-down ship. Oh, I also still have $5 or so in the old bug account, so I'm toying with the idea of a YIPEs-like experiment over there. In addition, I've got a bunch of FPPs (plus the aforementioned $26 token), so I may be playing more on the old account than I thought I would be....
All-in for now...
