Rules be Rules

As part of my prep for the upcoming WSOP, I downloaded the Rio's official rule book yesterday and read through the entire thing, line for line. Nothing really jumped out at me as too crazy or unexpected, but it was still a worthwhile endeavor to refresh myself on what is and isn't allowed at the table, etc. Ten pages long, 118 primary rules, and dozens of secondary and tertiary sub-rules... these folks are serious. It was also interesting to note some rules that have clearly been added as a result of recent weird behavior on the part of the players. For example, anyone remember Phil Laak dressing in disguise as an old man a few years ago? Read Rule #54.  There were also a number of rules dedicated to keeping table talk under control, from restricting offensive language (which makes sense) to restrictions on "excessive chatter" (whatever that means). And so on. Good, interesting read...
