Played 100 hands of not-so perfect Omaha yesterday, and I still managed to win. The short story is I got lucky a couple of times, plus I relied on naked aggression a little more than I'm used to doing, and it paid off. My game has a long way to go, but it definitely is improving.
One of the things I've been working on in taking more raises in position. This is based on something the Guru said on the phone this week about one of his Omaha students, who has made some big strides in her game lately. One of the things that they've been working on is using position to see more flops, and then outplaying the opp post-flop. My post-flop skills are still pretty weak, but I'm trying this approach anyway. I liken it to fishing with slightly more expensive bait than I'm used to using.
I'm also working pretty hard on folding PF OOP, especially from the blinds and UTG. Way too many times I've gotten myself between a rock and hard place with two-pair type hands and unsure if I should be donking, check-calling, or just giving up. Position is everything in this game, even more so than in Hold'em. Having what would be a strong two-pair or trip-type hand, but not having position on the opp means you're going to be very unsure where you stand, and that means you'll be making mistakes. Folding is zero EV, which, in Omaha, ain't a bad place to be most of the time.
All-in for now...
